Luke 16:19-31 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores. “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’ “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’ “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’ “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
My dear friends, most of us are not bothered about what happens after death. We are concerned about this world life, our needs now and about our job. That is also important but every individual has an unexpected moment which carries away the souls to the paradise prepared for the righteous by God, the Creator. The world is a temporary shelter to prepare us for an endless life of bliss in our real home in constant communion with God, our loving Father. For those who lead a righteous life on earth in accordance with the Sacred Scriptures, life after death is in a heaven of happiness and so death is not a fearsome event. God loves us .Our loving heavenly father wants each one of us to inherit the eternal life. He do not won’t anyone of them to be left behind for the life of agony. That is why Bible says ““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16. He wants us to inherit the” free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”. Romans 6:23. Jesus said “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Mark 2:17. Only we know what sort of life we lead in this world. But God watches us. As we celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ today, let us think of our life. Are we leading a righteous life? The Bible says “God will repay each person according to what they have done." Romans 2:6”. The purpose of God for us is not living a sinful life in this world but to repent and inherit the Eternal Life. He was born to save us. Today, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13. Repent & be saved today and this Christmas would be the wonderful Christmas in your life. God Bless You.
